Staffed five days a week with a bilingual referral specialist, the hotline directs callers to a food cupboard near their residence, or to an Emergency Food Box location. In the age of technology, there is a comfort knowing that someone is listening, understanding, and able to offer resources to help break the cycle of food poverty.

Apply for SNAP (food stamps)
The Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger operates a hotline to help people apply for SNAP (formerly the food stamp program). The hotline also serves as a referral service for food pantries and soup kitchens.

Emergency Food
The Philabundance Food Help Line helps clients locate produce distribution sites and Emergency Box (Ebox) locations. Eboxes contain three days worth of food for a family of four. Clients can obtain an Ebox once, no proof of income required. Philabundance also operates a monthly food box program for seniors.

Food for Seniors
Philadelphia Corporation for the Aging (PCA) provides daily hot meals at senior centers and delivers meal to seniors’ homes. Home-delivered meals are free for income-eligible seniors after assessment. PCA also distributes Senior Farmers’ Market vouchers to senior centers and other locations.
